The insulator's elastomeric insulation is made of Dow Corning's high-consistency HTV silicone rubber. The core is an ECR-type Fiberglas Round Rod that provides excellent mechanical strength to tension, flexion, and torsion. The hardware, made of ASTM 153 galvanized steel, transmits mechanical pressure from the ends of the core to the support and conductor.
