Curcuma Longa L. is a herbaceous plant of the Zingiberaceae family planted in the Peruvian jungle, commonly known for its medicinal properties in traditional medicine. There are many properties attributed to turmeric and its main component, curcumin. It is known worldwide as an aromatic spice used in Asian cuisine to give a touch of color and spicy flavor to dishes.
