In the final cyanide leaching process, the gold in solution is absorbed by the activated carbon (absorption process); to recover the gold absorbed within the activated carbon, the electro recovery (desorption) process is applied, which consists of forcing the exit of the gold from inside the activated carbon, consequently, the small-scale miner requires an electro recovery plant – desorption.
The gold trapped in the activated carbon is sequestered by the electrodeposition cells.
