Peru's Social Health Insurance (EsSalud) pointed out that annatto can act as a powerful anti-inflammatory for the prostate due to the presence of steroids in its composition. Likewise, it has flavonoids, so it would work as an effective diuretic acting on the urogenital system and would regulate renal function.
"The therapeutic, diuretic, and antibacterial benefits reinforce the beneficial action of annatto on the prostate and genitourinary tract," said Jorge Ysaac Villacres, head of the Quality Control Department of the Institute of Traditional Medicine of EsSalud - Loreto.
