Beans are the seeds contained in the pods of the plant belonging to the family Phaseolus.
It is produced mainly in the regions of Ancash, Ica, Arequipa, Piura, Ayacucho, Cajamarca and Huanuco.
This legume contains 22% of highly digestible proteins and high energy value and 70% of carbohydrates. It is also a source of important nutrients such as phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc. Beans are also rich in fiber.
They provide vitamins A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin) and vitamin C (ascorbic acid). They can be enjoyed in dishes such as tacu tacu, bean stew and beans with dry beans.
