Cat's Claw is a tropical climber with a thin, woody trunk that reaches 15 meters in height. The pre-Hispanic cultures that inhabited Peru used it in the form of decoctions to treat tumors, joint pain, respiratory diseases, degenerative and infectious diseases. Preliminary studies indicate that Cat's Claw can stop the reproduction process of cancerous cells. They claim that it can help people undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy to improve cell damage. However, it is not yet known for sure if these properties are real and in all types of cancer. The Cat's Claw is responsible for balancing the amount of white blood cells in the body, whether the number is too high or too low. A laboratory study also showed that Cat's Claw can eliminate the cells of two types of cancer from the nervous system and that it could stop the production of cells from breast cancer and Ewing's sarcoma.
